KM/Knowledge Services Boot Camp: Get Yourself Ready

Guy St. Clair

It’s no secret that knowledge management and knowledge services have come of age.

Don’t think so?

  • Then why is your company calling its corporate intranet the “corporate KM system”?
  • Why are connections to your organization’s affiliates known as “knowledge portals”?
  • Why are the people moving ahead in KM/knowledge services known as “knowledge strategists”?

Think about it. Think about what your role is (or is going to be) in your company’s knowledge future.

Are you ready?

Here’s how to learn what you need to know: Come to the KM/Knowledge Services Boot Camp at the SLA Annual Conference in Philadelphia.

On June 11th, in Fundamentals of Knowledge Management and Knowledge Services, Guy St. Clair, Cindy Hill, and Dale Stanley will give you an intensive indoctrination and instruction in how to move forward with KM, knowledge services, and knowledge strategy. Just like in any other boot camp, you’ll learn what is common to all recruits and what you need to know before you’re selected as a qualified (and recognized) strategic knowledge professional.

What you’ll learn, in fact, is how to understand the role of knowledge in your current workplace and, just as important, how to position yourself to move into a leadership role as the knowledge strategist for your company (or somewhere else, if that’s your goal).

Don’t wait. Companies are moving faster and faster to the knowledge culture. Don’t you want to be ready when your chance comes?

Cindy Hill, a past-president of SLA, leads KM applications in her role as Library Manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Dale Stanley works with knowledge development and knowledge sharing (KD/KS) as Director of Literature Resources at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, CA. Guy St. Clair, also a past president of SLA, is President and Consulting Specialist for Knowledge Services at SMR in New York, NY and recently served as a panelist for the KM Education Forum, co-sponsored by Kent State University and George Washington University.
